Hopkinton Marathon Winged foot exhibition

A  Wicked good Run!

This piece is dedicated to the huge variety of runners who test their endurance every year at the Boston marathon.  - Massachusetts’s greatest sporting event! You don’t have to be in the race to get swept up in the excitement.

As a long time, Massachusetts resident, the Boston Marathon has always been a part of my life, as I have lived along the route at many different stages of my life. My lifelong love of the Boston Marathon began when I was 10 years old (I was a huge fan of runner Bill Rogers). I was so excited by the Boston Marathon that I road my bike along the course. I was from Franklin, so I rode until I intersected the race, stopping along the way to watch all the runners. I ended by watching the race in Newton until evening, then realized I did not know the way back to Franklin. Eventually I found a pay phone and called my dadwho came and got me, remarking that I “had an adventure”.  Life was different back in the late 70s.

Later I went to university in Framingham, where we had parties on Marathon day along the course. In the late 90s I lived in Brighton where I watched the marathon from Cleveland Circle. The Boston Marathon has always been, and continues to be, a part of my life. I now reside in Hopkinton - where the marathon begins!
